5 Upcoming Smartphones To Look Out For In 2020

The market concerning smartphones has become quite saturated and so did the options. This bodes well for the customers. Now they have a wide range of options to choose from while companies compete harder to produce the best device.

However, the amount and frequency on which these smartphones are churned out are astounding, to say the least.

2019 was indeed a marathon run of smartphone extravaganza with so many flagships and their lower-end variants being introduced and marketed. Of course, with some unexpected new entries – like that of Moto Razr 2019 (Nostalgia, much?).

The bar has been set for 2020 and so are the contenders – ready to roll their new devices of the year. Apart from Samsung and Apple, the rest launching their devices in 2020 include Nokia, Xiaomi, Sony, LG, Oppo, OnePlus, and Huawei. The list is expected to increase with time.

Upcoming Smartphones of 2020

Let’s briefly discuss the details or rumors that have been made public so far regarding the upcoming smartphones of 2020.

1. Samsung Galaxy S20

According to a renowned leaker, the Samsung Galaxy S11 is indeed the Galaxy S20 that has been creating a buzz online. The rumors flooded the screens and several tech sites are now leaning towards using the term Galaxy S20 and S20 Ultra/S20+, following a tweet posted by tipster Ice Universe.

However, much of the truth has been lost in the plethora of rumors that suggest that Samsung is scheduled to have an Unpacked event on February 11, introducing these flagships.

Moreover, the leaked live images of the device show, what appears to be a Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G. The photograph of its back gives an insight into its camera setup. The rear camera system has been placed in a rectangular enclosure.

If you look closely, four regular shooters can be observed accompanied by an LED flash and another pinhole like feature, which many are guessing as a special sensor.

Its camera is definitely all the rage. The rumors suggest that the quad-cam setup may have a 108 MP 9-to-1 Bayer sensor. This sensor is expected to take 12MP stills with big pixels, assisted by an ultrawide shooter and a telephoto lens.

2. Samsung Galaxy Fold 2

Drum rolls for this one? We all know the route to disaster, that the Galaxy Fold followed. However, Samsung must have learned a great deal from past mistakes to launch another foldable device called Fold 2 in 2020?

It is being expected to launch alongside S20 on February 11. Moreover, the latest development regarding Fold 2 suggests that this device is not from the previous Galaxy Fold’s family, but is a whole another line-up.

Previously, it was being called as Galaxy Bloom. However, the reputable tipster Ice Universe has revealed Bloom to be a mere codename. The device will be marketed as Galaxy Z Flip, which has a nice ring to it as compared to Bloom.

In terms of its specification, there is little to none that has been leaked or revealed. However, rumors say that the Fold 2 will be using Snapdragon 855 chipset.

3. Apple iPhone SE2/iPhone 9

Apple’s low-cost iPhone SE2 or iPhone 9 is being rumored as the cheaper, more affordable version of the iPhone 8. This variant is being introduced for consumers using older devices that do not run iOS 13 – such as iPhone 6.

As far as its naming and specs are concerned, iPhone SE2 might be called ‘iPhone 9’. This could be because of the rumored similarities between iPhone 8 and this device, in terms of build and design.

There have been many renders but nothing stands solid in terms of its design. The usual differences that were noticeable from the design leaks were the frosted glass back of iPhone 9, much like iPhone 11 Pro’s finishing.

Its technical specifications are being assumed to have an A13 processor, with regular iOS updates. It is expected to be 0.5mm thicker than the iPhone 8, which measures at 7.8mm in thickness. Lastly, it is rumored to have a starting price tag of $399.

4. Huawei P40 & P40 Pro

Huawei has had a tough ride in 2019, stirring all sorts of trouble for itself. Nonetheless, the tech-giant persevered and managed to retain its market in China and other parts of the world.

Now, the company is gearing up to launch another lineup as per the rumors – P40 and P40 Pro. The P40 lineup is expected to launch at the end of March in Paris, without Google services. However, the company claims to have features that will be a good alternative to Google services and will help stay connected.

The most awaited feature of this lineup would be P40 Pro’s camera system showcasing five snappers in the latest protective-case renders.

The predictions of cameras taking if not all, then most of the backspace of smartphones is turning true, according to these renders.

The five-camera Leica system is definitely something to look forward to. As for P40, the renders suggest it has a triple back camera system, compared to its Pro variant.

The P40 family is rumored to sport the Kirin 990 chipset and there might not be a 3.5mm headphone jack. Although the same cannot be said about its no-pro model.

5. Google Pixel 4a

Google Pixel 4a rumors have many excited, as it is expected to be a lighter and cheaper version of Pixel 4.

Remember the affordable Pixel 3a and 3a XL? The cheaper versions of Pixel 3 and 3 XL, but with some of the premium software and hardware, selling at a convenient price range? The same is expected to be the case with this model of 2020.

Pixel 4a is expected to come sometime around May with a price tag of $399. However, take these details with a grain of salt as these are just rumors that are likely not to be true.

Furthermore, rumor has it that there won’t be a Google Pixel 4a XL variant. So for those expecting a larger screen real-estate at a cheaper price can rest their hopes.

Again, for now, we just have renders to rely on. And, according to them, it seems that there will be a rear fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The front render shows a ‘punch-hole’ front-facing camera cutout instead of the popular choice of Pixel phones – the large bezels. We have yet to see what Pixel 4a really offers when it is launched officially.

As for now, these were the few of the many phones that are expected to release this year. There is Nokia 8.2 5G, Xiaomi Mi 10 & Mi 10 Pro, Sony Xperia 5 Plus, LG G9 ThinQ and more.

These smartphone companies using cutting-edge technology to bring a seamless experience compel software development companies to create better and robust software solutions, compatible with both the smartphones and desktops.
