Motorola Edge+ Leaks Show Tiniest Selfie Camera & a Waterfall Display

After Moto Razr, which hit us with a wave of nostalgia and great low to mid-range handsets, the company is gearing up for a flagship device – called Motorola Edge+ This had many looking forward to Edge Plus’s debut at Mobile World Congress 2020, but the event was canceled altogether due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

However, thanks to renowned tipster @onLeaks x Pricebaba, we now have leaked 5K CAD-based renders showing what the Edge+ could look like.

Smallest Punch-hole Selfie Camera, Waterfall Display, Triple Camera System, and a Headphone Jack?

The first thing that you immediately notice is a punch-hole front camera that is the smallest one ever to grace the displays of a flagship smartphone, or any other for this matter. However, this claim is deduced from the available renders which make the situation as good as ‘imaginary’, since the actual design could be entirely different. So take this information with a pinch of salt.

Next is the waterfall display that dramatically bleeds to the curved edges, hence the name – Edge+. We will have to see how Motorola makes use of this extra screen real-estate, or will it behave just like Samsung’s curved displays of the past?

Apart from these two obvious design details, you also notice the triple rear camera setup aligned vertically top-left showcasing a massive primary shooter. Which according to Android Authority could sport a 108-megapixel sensor, like the one in Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Although this is just a prediction, it isn’t too far of a shot. As we did see impressive shooters in Motorola’s mid-range One Zoom that had a 48-megapixel main sensor. So it is only fair to expect something better in a flagship device.

Another refreshing sight is the headphone jack at the top, which is assumed to be 3.5mm thick.

A few more things that are visible in the renders are the dual-LED flash unit, some sensors, and two noise-canceling mics (one above the cameras and one at the bottom edge).

The renders hint towards a rather thick phone, that is tipped to measure 161.1 x 71.3 x 9.5mm; adding additional bump of the camera alignment and the thickness mounts to 11.5mm in total. Considering the latest, not so successful S20 Ultra of Samsung, that is also a big bulky phone, makes us think how Motorola will manage to impress users with a heavy flagship device. Clearly everything is just in the air for now.

As for the screen of Edge Plus, Motorola managed to retain much of it with a curved display and thin bezels at the top and the bottom; measuring around 6.5-inches and 6.8-inches. It is also rumored to be coming with an in-display fingerprint sensor since we do not see one at the back.

Standard Features Include:

A USB Type-C port at the bottom alongside a speaker grill. The right edge houses a power button and volume rocker; although extremely thin.

Specs Sheet:

The specs sheet of Motorola Edge+ was leaked some time ago by Geekbech and it showcased the following:

  • 6.67-inch curved display
  • FHD+ resolution
  • 90Hz high refresh rate
  • Snapdragon 865
  • 8GB or 12GB RAM
  • Android 10
  • 5,170mAh battery

So far this is all that has been revealed, but not confirmed as the official launch is yet to take place. Moreover, Motorola Edge+ will be the first device of the brand to support 5G. It will be released in the US via Verizon, distributed globally as well.
